Hip Surgery

We perform various types of hip surgery. There are a number of problems affecting the hip that may require surgical intervention. They include fractures, dislocation and hip dysplasia.

The repair depends on the nature of the problem and in many circumstances may be dictated by conditions during surgery. Toggle pin fixation surgery can be performed to replace a dislocated hip joint. Femoral head and neck osteotomy is recommended for disease of femur head and as an alternative procedure for hip dislocations in small cats and dogs.

Hip Dislocation (Coxofemoral Luxation):

We perform Toggle pin fixation surgery as the preferred method to replace a dislocated hip joint. This technique facilitates early weight bearing or ability to walk sooner. Femoral head and neck osteotomy is recommended for disease of femur head and as an alternative procedure for hip dislocations in small cats and dogs

Hip fracture repair

Hip Surgery – Fracture Repair:

We use bone plates as a preferred treatment for traumatic hip fractures. This technique allows for early use affected leg and restoration of pelvic canal thus protecting against nerve damage and GI problems down the road.
